How do I get the original window sticker (Monroney Label) for my Scion?

Use the following Window Sticker Tool to generate an original window sticker for your Scion vehicle. Your digital copy of the original Monroney Label Window Sticker will be 100% accurate and will provide you with the trim level, packages, and/or options your car has.

To get started, all you need is your VIN and a phone number to receive a link to your window sticker PDF file.

What do I need to get the window sticker (Vehicle VIN) and how do I find it?

While you can't obtain your vehicle’s window sticker via a Google search, the easiest way to obtain it is with your VIN (vehicle identification number). A VIN is composed of 17 characters (numbers and capital letters). It is an identifying code, unique to your vehicle, used to track manufacturer recalls, vehicle records, thefts, etc. The VIN for your Scion can typically be found in two places:

  1. On the driver’s side doorjamb

  2. The left corner of the dashboard where it meets the windshield

  3. Can be a vinyl decal in some cases

Other places you can find the VIN is on vehicle registration documents, insurance cards, and sometimes vehicle service invoices.

What’s the difference between a VIN decoder, Monroney Label, and Window Sticker?

A VIN decoder allows you to verify a vehicle’s history using the vehicle identification number. Decoding a VIN will provide you with the following vehicle information:

  • Model year, location of the manufacturer, and production number

  • Number of vehicle owners over time

  • Current state or last state to title the vehicle

  • A track of recalls, warranties, registration, thefts, and insurance coverage

The United States requires that a Monroney Label, aka Window Sticker, is displayed on the car window of a new vehicle to disclose its equipment and pricing information. It was most recently updated in 2013 to include:

  • VIN

  • Engine type

  • EPA fuel economy

  • Government safety ratings

  • Warranty information

  • Available standard options and features

  • Additional manufacturer options and pricing

  • Total vehicle price including all features

What are some key details to know about how Scion describes packages and options?

In August of 2016, the Scion brand was discontinued, with select 2017 models being rebranded as Toyota vehicles. Since then, the once branded Scion vehicles, iA, iM, and FR-S have joined Toyota as the Yaris, Corolla Hatchback, and 86, respectively. The trim levels available for these vehicles follow the same standard naming convention Toyota implemented for their other vehicles. Picking the trim level (a version of a vehicle model equipped with a fixed combination of features) of a new car and deciding what options and packages to add is an exciting step in the car-buying process -- that is if you are familiar with lingo in the auto industry.

The Corolla Hatchback available from Scion by Toyota is offered in three trim levels:

  1. SE

  2. SE Nightshade Edition

  3. XSE

The SE trim provides the necessities, and if you’re willing to spend a bit more, you can upgrade your trim for more premium features. With each increasing tier, you can expect the vehicle to be equipped with most of the standard features from the preceding tier, in addition to other premium features.

Below are some of the features offered at each trim level for the 2021 Corolla Hatchback:

  • SE

  • 16” alloy wheels

  • 4.2’ information display

  • Automatic climate control

  • SE Nightshade

  • Sport mode

  • Black exterior and interior accents

  • Front and rear crumple zones

  • XSE

  • 18” alloy wheels

  • Blindspot warning system

  • 7” information display

Note: Refer to the Scion website to find out in more detail the trim levels available for a specific vehicle.

Many premium features that aren’t standard for a vehicle can be installed via packages and options. While available packages and accessories vary based on the model itself, they allow the vehicle to be tailored to specific needs.

Here are some examples of packages and accessories you may find:

Packages:

  • SE Preferred Package

  • Audio Plus

  • 8” media display

  • Six-speaker sound system

  • Safety Connect, Service Connect, Remote connect, Wi-fi connect

  • XSE Preferred Package

  • Premium Audio with Dynamic Navigation

  • Eight-speaker sound system with amplifier

  • Dynamic navigation

What does the window sticker not provide?

Window stickers are most accurate when the vehicle is “new”. The purpose of a window sticker is to detail the equipment a vehicle has immediately post-production. The result is the car decals won't reflect any modifications installed by the dealer or any current/previous owners -- nor will it detail any parts that have been repaired or replaced.

Whether the vehicle was purchased from a Toyota dealership, CPO (certified pre-owned program), or a private seller, the car window decal does not provide the vehicle’s current condition or history. To obtain such information, we recommend services such as Carfax, Autocheck, and having it inspected by a certified professional.

Finally, the MSRP (Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price) will not reflect the vehicle’s current value due to natural wear and depreciation. Although the decal sticker shows a particular MSRP, the vehicle may sell for less when taking into consideration negotiations and discounts.

When does this Free Scion Window Sticker Tool or VIN decoder not work?

The free Monroney label tool currently supports vehicles which are 2013 Model Year and newer. In addition to this, there are other limitations you may encounter using the sticker tool:

  • The VIN is not 17 characters long (applies to vehicles model year 1981 and older)

  • The VIN cannot be validated by certified techniques:

  • Checksum: The 9th digit of the VIN number (limited to numbers 0-9 or the letter X) of US and Canadian vehicles is used in an algorithm to determine its validity

  • Illegal character check: VINs can include any alphanumeric character minus the letters I, O, and Q

  • Your vehicle is too new and has not been updated in the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) database
