There are a few circumstances when you may run into issues using a VIN decoder or Window sticker when generating a label.

Reasons the VIN decoder will not work:

  • The vehicle model is older than 2013

  • VIN is not 17 digits long (applicable for pre-1981 vehicles)

  • VIN contains illegal characters

  • Does not pass the checksum test

  • A test in the U.S. and Canada in the 9th position to determine the VIN’s validity
